On November 23, 2015, we went to Santa Monica, after visiting Solvang, a small Danish town. Santa Monica is a beachfront city in western Los Angeles County, California, United States. The city is named after the Christian saint, Monica. Situated on Santa Monica Bay, it is bordered on three sides by the city of Los Angeles – Pacific Palisades to the north, Brentwood on the northeast, Sawtelle on the east, Mar Vista on the southeast, and Venice on the south. Santa Monica is home to many Hollywood celebrities and executives and is a mixture of affluent single-family neighborhoods, renters, surfers, professionals, and students. The Census Bureau population for Santa Monica in 2010 was 89,736.Santa Monica has three main shopping districts, Montana Avenue on the north side of the city, the Downtown District in the city’s core, and Main Street on the south end of the city. Each of these districts has its own unique feel and personality. Montana Avenue is a stretch of luxury boutique stores, restaurants, and small offices that generally features more upscale shopping. The Main Street district offers an eclectic mix of clothing, restaurants, and other specialty retail. The Downtown District is the home of the Third Street Promenade, a major outdoor pedestrian-only shopping district that stretches for three blocks between Wilshire Blvd.and Broadway (not the same Broadway in downtown and south Los Angeles). Third Street is closed to vehicles for those three blocks to allow people to stroll, congregate, shop and enjoy street performers. Santa Monica Place, featuring Bloomingdale’s and Nordstrom in a three-level outdoor environment, is located at the south end of the Promenade. After a period of redevelopment, the mall reopened in the fall of 2010 as a modern shopping, entertainment and dining complex with more outdoor space. The Santa Monica Pier is shown in many films, including They Shoot Horses, Don’t They? (1969), The Sting (1973), Ruthless People (1986), Beverly Hills Cop III (1994), Clean Slate (1994), Forrest Gump (1994), The Net (1995), Love Stinks (1999), Cellular (2004), The Cutting Edge: Going for the Gold. A number of television series have been set in Santa Monica, including Baywatch, Three’s Company, Pacific Blue, and Private Practice. The Santa Monica pier is shown in the main theme of CBS series NCIS: Los Angeles. In Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the main exterior set of the town of Sunnydale, including the infamous “sun sign”, was located in Santa Monica in a lot on Olympic Boulevard.[87] All in all, we had a great time in Santa Monica. We shopped around downtown, and then we ate some food, and then decided to go back to our car, so we could head to our next destination, Anaheim.

Drive to San Luis Obispo
On the same day that we visited the Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple, we also visited San Luis Obispo, directly from the temple. The drive was about 191 miles, and we reached by evening. When we reached San Luis Obispo,we stayed in a hotel called Embassy Suites. The next day, in the morning, we shopped around in downtown San Luis Obispo. The population of San Luis Obispo County was 269,637 in 2010. San Luis Obispo (/sæn ˈluːɪs ɵˈbɪspoʊ/; Spanish for St. Louis, the Bishop [of Toulouse]) is a city in the U.S. state of California, located roughly midway between Los Angeles and San Francisco on the Central Coast. It is also the home to California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly), a public university enrolling nearly 20,000 students. The school is located just outside city limits and provides on-campus housing for nearly 6,000 freshmen and sophomores. The community is also served by Cuesta College, a community college a short driving distance away. Clearly, this was a very fun and enjoyable drive to San Luis Obispo.
Hearst Castle Visit
In this adventurous journey with my daughter and her family, we traveled by car from her house in Cupertino, on Nov. 22nd, 2015, at 3:30 PM. Our first stop was at the Sankat Mochan Temple in the Mountain Madonna Center for Creative Arts and Sciences. This temple was established in 2001 by the students of Baba Haridass. This community was designed to nature the creative art and health sciences within a context of personal and spiritual growth. A group of talents & interests were unified by the common practice of yoga and meditation. The temple is located on the grounds of the Mount Madonna on Highway 101. It was a 50 mile journey from my daughter’s house in Cupertino, and an total journey of 90 mins. Clearly, this was a very wonderful and blessed journey to the Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple.
SF trip
I went to SF with my daughter’s family and their dog, Coffee, by car, directly from our house to the Golden Gate Bridge, on Friday, October 24, 2015. It was a long journey, but the time went by fast. After crossing the bridge, we stopped at Vista Point, (north of the Golden Gate Bridge) where we saw a
good view of the Golden Gate Bridge, and the islands, and other things around it. We also saw a view of the whole city with a telescope, which was beautiful. We then eat our food, which we had packed from home. We also took a few pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge. We saw a tour bus that was headed to Sausalito, where we were planning to go next, so we decided to board the bus. Sausalito is a SF Bay Area city in Marin County, CA.The bus driver gave us a fun journey to Sausalito, with a open top. When we reached Sausalito, we roamed around for a while, and saw the different shops and restaraunts. Sausalito is seven miles away from Vista Point. We even enjoyed some vegan ice cream, at Lappert’s Ice Cream parlor, and saw an ornament shop, with pretty ornaments. After that, we decided to head back to the bus. We then went on a thrilling journey across the Golden Gate Bridge, and back twice! It was very windy, so our hair and clothes were flying really hard!! When we finally got back to Vista Point again, we got off the bus, and then got on our own car, and headed to our next destination, Marin Headlands. The Marin Headlands is a hilly peninsula at the southernmost end of Marin County, California, USA, located just north of San Francisco across the Golden Gate Bridge, which connects the two counties and peninsulas. We took a few pictures of Marin Headlands, and saw some fishermen, and then headed back to the car. After sitting in the car, we then headed to Fort Baker, our next destination, which was pretty high up on a hill. Fort Baker is one of the components of California’s Golden Gate National Recreation Area. The Fort, which borders the City of Sausalito in Marin County and is connected to San Francisco by the Golden Gate bridge. After this, we went to Ghirardelli Square, and enjoyed chocolate-filled goods. Overall, was a wonderful and unique journey to San Franciso.
